Here is my Goldentone Reverbmaster 60.

I bought it off eBay a few months ago for only $450.
The owner lived about 15 minutes from where I live, so I was able to pick it up.

He had owned it for some time, but I am pretty sure he wasn't the original owner.

When I bought it it wasn't fully functional. Only one channel worked as a result of a missing valve. Many of the caps were in a bad state and would need to be replaced. The power cord was damaged and had been repaired with tape. There was no reverb tank, and it looks like the foot-switch has been replaced and hard wired in.

Also, there had been several small modifications made the amplifier in the form of extra caps in an effort to make the sound bassier. This did in fact work as when I first played it at the previous owners house it was unbearably bassy. After restoration it sounded beautiful.

My father works with electronics, so with a similar circuit diagram he managed to source, as well as some spare caps and valves, he was able to restore the amp to a very playable condition.

It is still beat up on the outside, but I am going to leave it as it is. I want to keep it as original as possible, I have even kept the old caps aside.
I am yet to purchase a replacement reverb unit. I am leaning towards getting an Accutronics tank and putting it in there.

It was four channels. Two cleans, one for tremolo, and one for echo (reverb).
This amp sounds amazing through a single Celestion Vintage 30, but I really need a good 2x12" or 4x12" cabinet to play it through.

I am yet to push volume up, as I barely got to 1 and it was too loud for bedroom playing. I am no doubt missing out on the better tones the amp could provide when pushed to higher volumes.
A good drive channel would be nice, but the cleans are superb, and I can just use a pedal to add distortion.

This amplifier is definitely a keeper :mrgreen:

Cool, I have the same amp serial 5304 (later) but the knobs are round and the face plate is black with gold horzontal lines. I have owned it since the late sixties and very keen to restore the grill cloth, piping, vinyl and hardware. does anyone know where I can obtain items or there someone who specialised in this.

I acquired a second Goldentone amp a while back. It has a very similar layout to the one I posted before, but cosmetically it is quite different.
I picked this up at a semi-local guitar shop. I went there on a whim and was so glad I did. I walked out of there with this amp for $550AUD which was quite a good price really. As soon as I knew the price it was sold. What was I going to do? Leave it there? Hell no! :lol:

I am still not sure exactly what model it is, but I guess it is probably has the same circuit as my older one. I really love these amps. I think I will keep picking them up when I see them at reasonable prices. Goldentones come up on eBay every now and then. Usually it will be a combo of some kind, and it will go for $700-$1000 depending on size and model.

I attached a picture of both my Goldentones sitting together for anyone who cares to see.

Oh and I am yet to put a the new reverb tank I bought into the older Goldentone Reverbmaster 60. It has been sitting in my room for a while :lol:
The newer one doesn't have any extra space as it is a shorter head, so there will be no reverb tank for that one unfortunately :rolleyes:

I was in at my mates shop when this 30w Soloist (http://www.tymguitars.com.au/?p=1661) turned up for a service. Came with a almost mint '63 Jag.

I got this dusty old amp with a lot of gear I bought at an auction.. it came in the trailer along with the 3x12 Vase cab..:mrgreen::shock:
A tech friend replaced some caps and we had to track down a pair of tubes that stayed stable... old TV horizontal hold tubes with the anode cap on top...
seems they worked great as power tubes as well...for the aussie amp builders of the time..

both of them weren't in the auction list or photos:!:... the guy just threw them in to clear what was left in the shed...
got some other old stuff here, you want it?.. sure chuck it in?....

original footswitch.. with reverb and tremolo kicked in...Yessss..

Nice score! I still have to get my father to install a new reverb tank in my Reverbmaster 60 (the one with gold trim :mrgreen:). The tremolo works with the homemade footswitch, and once the reverb is in it will be epic!

It is pity the smaller black one doesn't have a footswitch or room in it to add a reverb tank too. At the very least, with a footswitch I could use tremolo. I am not too fussed though, as long as the Reverbmaster 60 has reverb, its all good.

I play mine through the 70s Fender Bassman 2x15 cab that I picked up recently... with a Bassman 50 head :mrgreen:
Admittedly, the Bassman 50 is getting more playtime. Probably will continue that way too... But I still love my Goldies :rolleyes:

Many years ago I was handed down a reverbmaster 40 from my dad. Have had it for many years now. As a 15 yr old I removed the front mesh and replaced it with plain black (idiot) and now 15 yrs later am regretting that decision and am wanting to restore it to its original state. Anyone know where I could get an original front mesh from??

check out any of Mia Dyson's videos.. she plays a Goldentone amp with a sort of wicker type mesh front cover....

mine didn't have any covers... I'm not sure what the original covers looked like..

It looks like either a 37020 Slimline or 37030 Junior.

Is it solid state and what speaker does it have fitted?

It's a solid state model with inputs for Bass,rythm and lead. I bought an old one in 1976 and it was indestructible. Sold it to a mate who kept it for years.

Attached (If I succeeded in doing so) is the 1964 Goldentone amp I purchased recently. I have no idea on the specific model names so any help would be appreciated. It's a beautiful amplifier, bought in full working condition with all original parts for $1500 - Couldn't pass it up.

Sounds great, mild scratchy or rattly noise on when the echo channel is on for some reason, I guess the reverb box is 49 years old...
150w, Loud as I need it to be.
