Red Moto color cancelled?

I got a pickguard from my uncle. Not going to make another guitar right now, so I want to sell it. He said something about it being worth more because it's a color that's no longer available. It looks like tourtoise shell, but brighter, redder. Personally I like the brownish, yellowy quality of tourtoise shell better.

But can anybody verify if this color is cancelled, and if this would make it a higher value item. (I really doubt it, but figured I'd ask.)

Man you can get a red MOTS guard at GFS for 15 bucks.

The "red" tortie colour has always been my favourite and one you never see in stores here. I ordered a Black Tele guard on-line once but the total cost at the end of the day put me off ordering parts online.
