Amp for Sax?

So will I blow my 57 Twin Tweed Reissue if I blow my sax through it?

I suppose I would need an XLR to 1/4" from the sax mic if such a thing exists.

Would a Roland Jazz Chorus be any better? Strawberry Blonde by SWR? Line 6 Pod?

I dont want to get into a PA. But I'm curious about amplification of sax with various effects. Maybe there is some recording gizmo that could record with effects with a line out and maybe strip tracks or some crazy thing like that??? Or is my only choice a small PA with mixer?

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Most of the amps designed for acoustic guitar are functionally very small PA systems, designed to take microphone imputs and provide something resembling accurate reproduction. I reckon if you get one with an effects loop, you'll be set!

Good advice from Tim, our sax player uses a PA head and a keyboard speaker cab for his amp/monitor, works great.

a PA head would provide better sound ... the frequency response of a guitar amp is limited to optimize sound for a guitar, not a sax ... some keyboard amps have an XLR in as well as a full frequency reponse and would work well IMO ...

I just discovered a guy over on the sax site who plays Tenor through a Fender Twin and an Octavio! Crazy...I wonder what a wah sounds like.

Not to hijack or anything, but what sax site? I used to play and have been wanting to get back into it.
