1974 Mustang pup questions [Archive] - Telecaster Guitar Forum

I am restoring a friends' 74 Mustang and I noticed his neck pup is shedding wire. Best way to seal this? Tape? Lacquer and what kind? Also anybody have info on these pups and what would be the best to replace it with closest to original. The bridge pup is in great condition. Thanks for any help.
