Funny Band Namesjjkrause84 March 13th, 2010, 02:02 PM Let's hear your funny band name ideas (real or not). If I was in a band today I think we'd have to call ourselves: "The Celestion Nudes" Bluej58 March 13th, 2010, 02:12 PM Jack Aspen and the Scalded Balz hannigan March 13th, 2010, 02:30 PM Band names are fun , last year a book was published called the band name book. Noel Hudson compiled it, I was honored that he included my group (weapon Shop) It is full of fun names like Hard Broccoli , Deep Banana Blackout, Big thumb Bowlers, and many more as well as some better known Bands. I also have an imaginary stoner band I imagine I play in called the Towlies. KCKC March 13th, 2010, 03:31 PM When I was late teens early 20's Kev Morbid and the Velvet Coffins Brian Damage and the Surgeons Bed by 10:00 Friends of Lenny Funny, in each band we knew we were going to "make-it"!! KC Phoenix59 March 13th, 2010, 03:34 PM Spudalicious Zombie Attack Mom's Basement Dwellers The Burgerflippers ibobunot March 13th, 2010, 03:37 PM The Hong Kong Dong - Not a Friend, Not a Lover 5OEFukKPkLo tgfmike March 13th, 2010, 06:05 PM Oscar Mayer and the Wieners Worn March 13th, 2010, 06:10 PM There was a band at my High School: "Spread Eagle and the Flying Rats" tuuur March 13th, 2010, 06:39 PM In my hometown we had a freestyle improv rock jazz collective called De IQ-loze mietjes (rough translation: The IQ-less sissies). Nowadays I play drums in a band called "Atilla the Hun and the Quality Butchers". Jack S March 13th, 2010, 06:44 PM One of my early bands had a great name, the Stains, and I tried to get them to go for D. Cade Carrion and the Remains sixstringbastard March 13th, 2010, 06:51 PM The Bourbon Tabernacle Chior jwTumCr2C8w John Cougar Concentrationcamp iqQKHggQk7o I played in a "once in a while in the basement" honky tonk band called The Mediocridge Boys. The name was better than the band. lol! Donnie55 March 13th, 2010, 07:19 PM Funky Moses and the Red Sea Pedestrians tap4154 March 13th, 2010, 07:35 PM A caller to a radio computer show today (Leo Laporte) was pushing his band's gig in Austin.... "The Disgusters". He was calling to find out how to air his bar gig live on the internet via laptop. Buckocaster51 March 13th, 2010, 07:48 PM Red River Luke and the Flash Floods. At least we thought it was funny. Nodremark March 13th, 2010, 08:04 PM I have to give a shout out to Pork and the Havana Ducks. RIP Pork Jerolin March 13th, 2010, 08:11 PM I was in a band called "Pink Lemonade" when I was 14. Awful name, awful music. I was in a blues-rock band a year ago for a while called "The Prodigious Criminals". Always hated the name, but I was desperate for a band, and it was a solid lineup. We sounded good. The Prodigious Criminals evolved into The Virtuous Criminals, and then when the guy left the lineup (who was the only one among us who ever liked the name in the first place), we changed it to "The Black Bayou Rhythm". I suppose Black Bayou Rhythm isn't great, but it's the name of the bayou where me and my bandmates all grew up around. Literally. We all live within a 1/4 mile of it. I live about 100 yards from it. So at least it holds meaning. goldtopper March 13th, 2010, 08:15 PM Funniest I've heard was Gary and the Swingin' Thuringers. KC March 13th, 2010, 08:17 PM I never get tired of this: http://www.brightlightsfilm.com/weirdbandnames/ WARNING! DANGER! HORRIBLY OBSCENE! and also funny enough to make me spit coffee on my monitor Dan German March 13th, 2010, 08:27 PM KC, I took one look at that list and the first thing I saw was The Legendary 4-Nikators. I remember them from my days in Denver. It always cracked me up that the newspapers would only list their gigs under the name Legendary Nikators. Yeesh! EDIT: I joined a couple of buddies for a casual make-music-for-a-friend's-housewarming-party gig, and when we got there the guy (a United Church minister) asked one of them what the band's name was. Without consulting us, he told the good reverend "Ass Juice". We played his annual party a few more times, including an acoustic set called "Ass Juice Uncorked". There was a t-shirt made. timmytVA March 13th, 2010, 08:33 PM I always thought München Rügg would be a great band name. Tim tschommer March 13th, 2010, 08:55 PM The Eagles of Death Metal MC 900 Ft. DANGER! HORRIBLY OBSCENE! and also funny enough to make me spit coffee on my monitor That is funny. I saw a band called the Asbestos Tampons that was formed in 2005. What is REALLY funny is that I had a faux "punk band" that I put together for our own little drunken bar version of the Gong Show in college back in 1980. This was right after the whole toxic shock syndrome thing and the start of the asbestos panic and the two names that I came up with were The Asbestos Tampons and The Toxic Shock Absorbers. Great minds think alike. This was around the same time as the engineering fraternity at Emory was holding Jonestown parties where they served Kool Ade and Everclear and for one party had a guy dressed and painted up to look bloated and rotting lying on a chaise lounge on the front lawn drinking the Kool Ade. Ah,the good old days. Of the newer band names, Brian Jonestown Massacre is still one of my favorites. Mid Life Crisis March 14th, 2010, 04:21 AM A friend of mine was in a band called The Avant Garden.
