Our first high school band was "The Sputniks" (well it was that time) then we became "The Asteroids" then came "The 7-9 Piece Show Band" depending who was available on the night. "Iliad" was a great rock combo for the time, very tight but we worked hard at it. Then was "The Mavericks" long running pub and cabaret 4 piece.

Now at 62 I'd like to put together something called "Wrinkle Rock" but all the guys are too old, too arthritic, or too dead! Ahhh next time around eh?

I was in two groups with somewhat odd names. The first was "The Brave Maggots." This name was unintentionally given to the band by a policeman who told them they weren't welcome in the area (M St in Washington DC circa 1966) He then called them the above when he ran into them again.

The second is "The Bells of Grapefruit." This one is odd not just because it makes no sense (With only an hour before his playing the first gig with "The Pink Grapefruit" I had to do something about the name painted on his drumhead: "The Bells of Rymney" so I changed just one word.) but because due to the splitting up of this fairly popular group 3 different members claimed the name for their new group and all were playing on L.I. at one time.
