-- Morning Woodshop
-- Cherry Pie Chart
-- Bull Shih Tzu
-- Son Of A Bichon Frise
-- Rancid Butterscotch
-- Complain Or Peanut
-- Whistling Past Gravy Boats
-- Dominatrix Are For Kids (Well, it's not grammatically correct--the plural is "dominatrices"; however, the wordplay is lost....)
-- Hoover Damnation
-- California-uh (as in "nuh-uh" ["no"]; admittedly, that's a bit of a stretch....)
-- CalifornUNNGH! (A bit better...more dramatic, perhaps even sexual)
-- Shot In The DAARRRGH!
-- Asterisky Behavior (or "Asterisky Business")
-- Asinine Lives
-- U-Turnip
-- E-Z Bake Coven
-- Boys And Girdles
-- Harpoontang

-- Mistake And Potatoes
-- Cheese Grater Or Less Than
-- Pornography-FI-FO-FUM
-- Mongoloids Of London
-- If You See Kay
-- Highly Selassie

I have a distinct memory of going to a school band night and seeing a band called, "Grandads Last Erection!"

I also have a friend that renamed their band, "Vojtech Stanely" after a person they used to go to school with just because they randomly saw him being quoted saying something stupid in a national newspaper article.

Great list, JT, BTW.

Thanks, Mike.

There's actually a Fender connection (somewhat) to "Anon Anon Anon"; I believe the story is as follows: In the early days of Fender, Don Randall was travelling in the Eastern U.S., trying to promote the then-brand new "Fender Electric Spanish Guitar," AKA the Esquire. At the 1950 NAMM Show in Chicago, Al Frost of National Guitars spoke with Don about the absolute need for a truss rod in a guitar neck to prevent warping. The Esquire didn't have a truss rod at time, so Don took Al's advice to heart, lest the Esquire become a warped-neck white elephant right out of the gate. For several weeks afterward, Don kept sending letters to Leo about the truss rod issue; however, Leo just ignored Don because he wasn't convinced that a truss rod was necessary. Don grew increasingly frustrated and eventually fired off a letter to F. C. Hall, who was head of Radio-Tel, Fender's pre-Fender Sales distributor. In the letter, Don said to F. C., "If Leo drops the ball on this issue and another company comes out with a properly manufactured solidbody guitar and causes us to lose what little sales and marketing momentum we've had, I shall never forgive him. Tell him to get on the ball IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY!"

ANON ANON ANON!

I never did name a band this for obvious reasons but I always thought a good/bad name would be Slim Hitler and the Drifting N A Z I's, playing their number hit "I got Jew Babe".

I currently work in 2 bands.

One is: Buddy Love and the Can't Hardly Playboys.
The other is: Barney and the Rubbles.

Former Bands I've worked in:
Pork and the Havana Ducks
Texas Tennis Shoes
Bob Barker and the Cowboy Pistols
just to name a few.

Real band names from Australian bands, (none of which I've played in)

The Celibate Rifles
Machine Gun Felatio
People With Chairs Up Their Noses
The Bondi Cigars <-- you need to live in Sydney to understand this one
and my current favourite, a local duo called

Tickle Me Chook Skin

The closest I came to with a funny band name was Nosbig & Zenabi which of course is Gibson & Ibanez backwards. These were the guitars we had. Not really funny I know...

I have a tape here somewhere with a couple of Bondi tunes on it. Friend of mine in Taz. sent me some of the local entertainment. Good stuff!!

I had a trio called "Noise Reduction". I'd passed out tapes of practice and forgot to write on them and there it was "Noise Reduction" with a little check box, so that's what we called ourselves.

Being a firefighter in an area with a lot of racial action in the middle of the night we come up with punk band names a few of which we think are funny at 3 in the morning.

The Aryan Hate Machine

The Bloody Show

Jesus, I Just **** Myself

Skinheads Need Love, Too

Not appreciated.

Not appreciated.

These are the people that cause the runs we go on in our area.

Hence the names.

Not a personal philosophy, but rather disdain.

Here's another band name: Sardonic Humor

If it is too offensive I will happily remove my post

My favorite punk/trash name that I ever came up with has to be Johnny Steeltoe And The Puppy Kickers. I have long thought that the best band names follow the Johnny Blank and the Blanks template. Simply fill in whatever words fit the band image and style for the blanks. It doesn't matter if no one in the band is named Johnny.

I sat in with a band once called

In school one of the bands I played in was

Maurice Chevalier started singing and we all thought a great band name would be
"Thank Heaven for Easy Girls"
Didn't happen but was a fun thought.
