You should be fine running your keys through the hrdeville. Only thing I can think of is if the low notes could damage the speakers if you're pushing the amp. Any thoughts about this, anyone?

Depends on the keyboard, I suspect. People wanted to use a Twin Reverb with a Fender Rhodes, for awhile. I've also seen the occasional keyboard that has a switchable output, so you could cut the level for use with a guitar amp.
The big issue is, is the keyboard putting out too much level for the amp? And if so, what will that do to the guitar amp?
I wouldn't run the risk, myself. Even if I pulled it off for a while, I couldn't be sure I wasn't causing damage, over time.

The potential danger is not to the amp, but to the speakers. Don't drive them too hard and you should be OK ... you didn't specify whether your mix was live or recorded. Recording with it should be fine, but it's easy to get carried away live. Just be careful with the low end.

Tie your left hand behind your back.
As long as your speakers can handle it a little edge on the keyboard notes can be great. Listen to Garth Hudson's The Generic Method from the Rock of Ages album, he's got some pretty hairy tones there!

Depends on the keyboard sound you want. Acoustic piano sounds from a synth do not sound very well through a guitar amp. Fender Rhodes and B3 sounds can work but the organ sounds especially the lower notes and/or full chords have the potential of blowing up your speakers in a hurry. You will get a much cleaner and better sound through a dedicated keyboard amp or a bass amp that has a tweeter. Closed back speaker cabinets work the best. Small portable PA's work well too. You will not be too happy running keys through a guitar amp. I speak from experience. I play both Tele and keys. Have fun, Wayne

I friend of mine has been using a Roland JC-120 with his keyboards for years. As long as I can remember, in fact. Never had a problem.

for my daughter's birthday a few years back i got her a i dunno $150-200 yamaha full keyboard. nothing fancy but it has presets and some drum tracks and some tutorial stuff. sounds nice and for the $, there's alot here actually. it has an organ sound that sounds great coming through the deville. we do sympathy for the devil and i was thinking of adding in some of this keyboard to this. but yeah, i'm chicken of blowing a speaker or worse. the output of the keyboard is alot higher than the guitar, so i turn the keys down to match the guitar output. also i'm not mic'ing this, and yeah it's specifically that low end that concerns me. i suppose those 12's weren't designed for that low end...?

Same here. Very good amp for a keyboard although it is a little hard getting the level right on some keyboards without a line out signal. sometimes I'll use the left and right out channels into the seperate channels on the amp. Nirvana with certain sounds!
