Folsom Prison Blues chord melody?

Hi,

Anybody know of tab or chords for this song in more of a chord melody or solo instrumental style? I generally play it in E.

I'll pick part of the vocal melody out of the chords but it's not working for me like some songs allow that.

I hope I'm making sense where I try to work out versions of songs good for solo. FWIW: It usually seems like C shape is best for that.

well, you can do 'em in any key if you give up a reliance on open strings. while they can be convenient, sometimes it's nice to NOT have them too, especially on an electric guitar when you want "thump" in the bass and not long piano tones...a good right hand can help that though, too.

i'm gonna play around with "folsom" tonight, and give you a good answer...solo arrangements are my bread and butter...

That's an enviable skill. I can do alright transposing at times but confess that I'm just thrilled when I have time to play more. This is not my profession and I have 3 kids and a business taking much time. It's a great obsession though. I did try some other ways but it really only sounds like a solo arrangement when I pick the melody out of the E, A and B open chords.
