I'm about a year into learning about pedals - never used them before - and all the posts about analog delay piqued my curiosity. I'm currently using a DD-3, which works, but I was thinking about adding a 2nd delay so I wouldn't have to fiddle with settings, so, why not get an analog one.
I went to the local GC, and tried a MXR Carbon Copy. I was surprised by the level of background hiss I heard when it was clicked on. Is that typical? I was playing a std. Tele through a tweed BJr, and it was pretty quiet until I turned on the delay, then a noticeable hiss was introduced, something like I'd expect out of a high-gain pedal or compressor cranked up.
I'm playing in church and the leader has in-ear monitors. I've learned I have to be very picky about what I introduce into the chain so I don't get her looking over at me pointing at her ear, asking "What's that noise?"
Did I just get a bad one to test, or are all analogs susceptible to picking up/generating noise like that?
