a friend of mine has these pickups lying around. I was thinking about putting them in my stock MIM standard. i like soldering, you know :-)
is this worth the trouble?
are they substantially different than the MIM standard pickups, and if so, in what way ?
thanks,

If you like soldering so much  put them in anyway, that way you will be able to hear the difference rather than read about it.
You have nothing to lose. Have fun.

But if they are like the MIM 50's/Hwy 1's, they are pretty cool pickups. They look hokey, no base plate, plastic every where, but to my surprise, I am very pleased. And trust me, I have tried a lot in this guitar. Say 7 or 8 different models. These are as good or better, than most.

Are the highway 1 amd MIM 50's the same pup? I tried a red highway 1 yesterday that just killed! I put my es333 and asat classic to shame!
