Hey strat experts. I'm trying to get the bridge on my 82 stratocaster to flutter and I need help. I adjusted the claw so the the bridge floats (G string can go up a minor third) and removed 4 of the 6 screws holding the bridge to the body. The bar is real sensitive now but still wont flutter like a Floyd Rose.

I've Googled the heck out of this subject, also You Tubed it. Close but no cigar.

I'm just not quite there. One of you shredders must know the secret!

Thanks,
R

you need the proper 2 point bridge. That makes it very easy to flutter. Look at an AmSe strat, or a floyd bridge... they don't have the screws completely surrounded by metal, they work on a knife edge / fulcrum, facilitating the flutter you're looking for.

Jeff Beck gets his to flutter, even with a 6-screw bridge. The Fender's owner's manual tells you how to effectively turn your 6-screw bridge into a 2-screw bridge. Easy.

+1 on the 2-point bridge! My Wilkinson V100 flutters more than i want it to.

To promote the fluttering you can:

a) increase mass of the trem (adding weight to the block)
b) taking out springs (had mine running on 2 springs)

Sorry, I thought this was a joke.
