Celestion Truvox 1218TC speaker?

I bought a Traynor YCV50Blue from a guy in my neighborhood yesterday. Also included was an Avatar 1-12 expansion cab.

The owner had put the Celestion Vintage speaker in the expansion cab, and put a Celestion Truvox 1218TC in the amp. I tried it out at a gig last night, and the clean channel and boosted gain channels were beautiful. I thought the crunch channel was a little bright.

More than enough gain. I just plugged my Squire strat through a DD2 delay into the amp. We play middle of the road stuff. Eagles, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Stones...

Definitely the nicest amp I ever owned.

Anyone have experience with the the Celestion Truvox 1218TC speakers? Would anyone recommend another speaker? If I switch the speakers between the amp and the cab, would I have any bottom end if the cab sits on the floor?

Well, I took the plunge.

I put the Vintage 30 speaker in the Traynor amp and the 1218TC in the extension cab.

What a PITA !!!

There are metal inserts that hold the amp speaker screws in place. If you push in on the screw while unscrewing it, the inserts will come out the other side of the baffle and then it's time to take the vicegrips out of the tool box. Not a lot of fun in limited work space.

Just a note to someone who is a noob at this like me. Don't push in on the screw as you're turning it out.

Lots of grief
