I own both the M-132 Super Comp and the Boss CS-3 and a bunch of other compressors too. Between the Super Comp and the CS-3, I prefer the CS-3. Side-by-side with the M-132, it's quieter, seems to have a broader frequency range, and is more transparent. The M-132 colors the tone a bit, kind of a "blanket over the speaker" effect... The CS-3 will make a "breathy" type pulsing effect when the batteries are weak, but if you always use fresh batteries or an AC adapter, the Boss is fine.

I had a Boss CS-3 and installed the Monte Allums Opi Mod kit. I still ended up replacing it with the MXR Super Comp. I like it a lot. Sounds great clean with my Strat and Bandmaster amp. I also had a Boss DD-5 I think it was. The one we tap tempo. I stepped up to a EHX SMMw/H and it's a lot better. Then I also ended up with a MXR Carbon copy. Now I have a digital and analog delay. The analog is warmer. It's very good.

I've never owned a boss compressor but I have the super comp and it is freakin' sweet. I love that thing. I think I play with it on at least 95% of the time. It was a bit tricky, with three knobs, to get the exact tone I wanted, but once I did, forget it, it's totally phenominal (sp?). I will never trade it or sell it, and if it broke, I would go buy a new one. I use it together with the Boss GE7 and, seriously, when I use the ts-808 the right settings, man, that thing sings. (my solid state amps, I mean).
