yeah..ive been using the neck pickup a lot lately as well...i used to only use the bridge and use the middle for mellow stuff, now i find myself just leaving it on the neck..but i guess ive been going after more of a blues tone where as before i was just doing rock...-john

I almost always use the neck pickup on my Fernandes Strat. I can leave it there and get a ton of great tonal variation by changing the tone settings on my amp/preamp. It can sound bright or dark, but it always has a smoother, fatter sound than the other pickups. A lot of SRV's tone was from the neck pickup - he even had a customized Strat with only one pickup mounted in it, in the neck position!

I have used the neck pickup almost always for years with a little of the middle mixed in. I now use the second position a lot more. Its a great position for minor blues.

...for fralin, i think, and the reviewer basically said he hates using strat neck pickups because they make it so easy to sound good, it's not really playing. and went on to talk forever about the other two pickups and didn't mention the neck again at all.
me, i love 'em. i'll take all the help i can get.
