Allparts: Processing/Shipping Delays?

All,

Having ordered lots of stuff from Stewart Macdonald over the years, I gave Allparts a shot last week for some SS fret wire.

A week later, and my order is still listed as "processing." With StewMac, I'd have it by now.

So, before I contact Allparts to find out what's up, I have to ask: is this anything to fret about (no pun intended)? Is this normal? Do they usually take a little while to process and ship? Have I simply been spoiled by StewMac?

Thanks.

It's probably out of stock. They are kind of bad for not informing people of what's not in stock so I always ask while placing the order. My orders usually get shipped within hours of ordering.

I find the shipping to be very fast but they are out of stock on things too often and so I learned to ask when ordering. I am happy with them, the quality of the parts are very good, but you need to learn their quirks a little bit.

Thanks; that makes me a tad happier. I'll email them tonight.

Out of stock! Same here in the UK.On their website the majority of necks are out of stock...and my last two orders for binding I sent back...one was 0.08 when I ordered 0.04 and the white binding was in fact......grey !

Yeah, I think next time I need SS frets I'll go with LMI, even though their prices are high. Alas, though, from what I've seen, Allparts seem to be the only folks who offer 3x3 split-shaft tuners. Hence, my dilemma.

I might have to learn to live without split-shafts on my archtops. HORROR!

Update:

Strange how these things work out. My parts were awaiting me when I got home from work today. So, out of curiosity, I just checked their website; my order is, according to Allparts, still "processing."

No real complaints; I got my parts. Still seems a bit odd, though.

So you got em for free? Quick, cancel the order.

Nah... but it would be interesting to see what happens. I've already got my frets bent and rough-cut, waiting to get plunked into the board. Considering that the order's STILL processing (nearly 10 pm ET), I call that pretty fast work.

This reminds me of the United States Postal Service (and sometimes UPS).

You may have the item before the system knows what happened.

Allparts Houston are good people. If they have something you can usually ask and they'll check. They do depend on their sources just like Stew Mac depends on theirs, and when their sources leaves them high and dry, they can't ship what they don't have.

just to confirm what everyone else is saying - allparts uk are a disaster. i bought an amp handle online and then i've waited 6 weeks while they blamed their suppliers and then the post and now i've asked for a refund they havn't returned my email. have just rang them and they act like i've got a problem! no apology no usual customer service niceties. seems they just take your money even if they don't have stock sometimes. i will be avoiding allparts uk like the plague from now on. i'm not even confident of getting my refund from the way the guy was on the phone.
