I have been playing a Nocaster relic for a few months now. Yesterday, I pull out my trusty ASAT Classic in which I've installed Don Mare Super Sport PUs. Both guitars are set up really well and sound very even acoustically. However, plugged in, the ASAT Classic has a very even sound with the string volume consistent and a really great blend. The Nocaster has a thinner sound overall, but the low E string has a wonderful growl. The high strings, though, can sound a bit anemic.
I'm wondering if this is something that can be fixed through further tinkering or if this is just a quality of the Nocaster PUs. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The Nocaster brige pickup comes alive when you set it REALLY close to the strings - very big & bold for a Tele bridge PU, though not as twangy as others, if set up that way.
Now, with the Nocaster neck PU you're on your own, it's a bit bright for my taste...

I'm probably the wrong one to ask...cause I'm one of the very few that ain't all GaGa over Nocaster Pickups......

Mellecaster, can you explain? I'm wondering if what you noticed about them is similar to what I've noticed. Thanks.

To be Honest I can't really put my finger on it Tonewise...but after years of hearing all the overblown Love for them on this and a few other boards...I put a Set in a New build I was doing, and then later a few Sets in Customer's Guitars that wanted them...I just never heard anything to Warrant all the Undying Praise they get ?....I'll take a Fender OV (like in the AVR52) or a Duncan Broadcaster any day....Maybe the earlier 10K ones were Special ?....but the current 7K ones just don't do anything Special for me....Most here I'm sure would not share this opinion...and that's Cool too.....

Ah, I've got a Duncan Broadcaster lying around. I think I'll give it a shot and see what I find.
