What is the route under the pickguard on the newer MIM standard strats? As well as the satin finished ones too?
S-S-S, H-S-S or H-S-H or what?

MIM Strat what under the pickguard?mojocaster June 6th, 2004, 08:46 PM What is the route under the pickguard on the newer MIM standard strats? As well as the satin finished ones too? S-S-S, H-S-S or H-S-H or what? e-merlin June 7th, 2004, 12:17 PM It's usually HSS, but the middle PU route is oversized. Not big enough for a humbucker, though. Check on eBay. In fact, here's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41406&item=3727583861 No affiliation, just trying to help. mojocaster June 7th, 2004, 05:49 PM I saw this guy's stuff and a couple of others and some of the picks look different. I wasn't sure about the neck slot. In some it looks larger and some it looks smaller. Thanks for posting, it helped. mechanicdave June 9th, 2004, 07:58 PM Both of my MIM were routed H-S-H. Both of these instruments came from the factory with three single coil pups, go figure? At least its better than the swimming pool route that my American Standard had. Dave Kelsey June 10th, 2004, 01:34 PM HSS, although the S routes seem slightly larger than vintage S routes look to be. J-man June 11th, 2004, 06:55 AM I've seen some MIMs are (and also is my squier strat) routed HHH, which even though makes screwing the pups into the pickguard annoying (if they're wired to the pots), its really hand if you want to fit humbuckers. But I dont know about the newer models... |
