drdos November 16th, 2009, 10:21 AM Just got this amp last week and love the warm Deluxe reverbish tones from this beauty.. Although I think the reverb tank is the only draw back of this amp.. What really surprised me was that Epiphone PRC didn't put cheap tubes in this amp. The amp comes stock with 2EH6V6's and 3Ruby12AX7's Anyway loving this cheap amp. What say you...

If it offers the same sort of value the Valve Jr. does, it's got to be good. I waited a long time for the Senior to come out, but finally broke down and bought the Vox Night Train.
drdos November 16th, 2009, 12:13 PM Well you got yourself a good amp there in the NightTrain. It sucks that the Valve Senior took so long to come out. Well heck the Night Train is an el84 amp therefore you need the Valve Senior to fulfill your need for a DR like amp..

Well . . . . . I'd had that thought already, truth be told.

Good to know that epiphone if realizing they actually make some great amps and it's worth it to start them off the line with a decent set of tubes!! I have a Blues Custom 30 which I love but have been changing the tubes out as the stock sovteks sounded kinda cheap to me...anyhoo...I have had difficulty finding the the schematics on epiphone's less popular/newer model tube amps...any help to steer me in the right direction would be appreciated...thanks and enjoy that epi senior....I haven't had the pleasure of test driving one in my neighborhood yet....but if it's anything like the bC 30 i'm certain she'll scream!!!!!

zag1 December 13th, 2009, 11:41 AM Show off your combo or your head/cab here! Sooner or later I guess they'll have mods for these too. Good amp, a bit throaty but anything's subject to change.
gypsyseven March 9th, 2010, 07:28 AM I got my Valve Senior Head yesterday and i'm just blown away...
Such good tones to get out of this baby...
gypsyseven March 10th, 2010, 07:15 AM What do guys think are the best speakers/cabinet for the Valve Senior Head?
Right now i'm using a Ibanez TB 212 cab.I guess not the best(got it from a friend 'till i got my own one) but i'm not sure which one to buy?
It should be 2x12....
jrich99 March 17th, 2010, 12:09 AM How does it compare to the Jet City 20 watter? Has anyone played them side by side?
zoranrataj2000 July 2nd, 2010, 11:56 AM I buy 1/2 year ago used Valve senior combo, but I did not have time to try it yet.
jgat July 31st, 2010, 05:19 PM "Epiphone Valve Seniors Represent."
Ooookay....but exactly WHAT do they represent?
zag1 August 4th, 2010, 01:07 AM It's a decent 6V6 amp, but I guess it doesn't rate very high on popularity. It has been around for awhile now.
hooch1 September 1st, 2010, 04:19 PM Just ordered one.
I think they are low in popularity because you don't see them often in the guitar-marts. Also this category of amp is a very crowded one.

I had a Jet City amp. I haven't played the Senior yet but from what I can tell is the Senior has more headroom, Fendery cleans and can nail classic rock tones. The Jet City is voiced more modern with very little headroom and can get into 90's hard rock. Also the Jet City sounds a lot better with humbuckers than single coils which might be an issue if you play with a traditional tele (this was my main issue).
hooch1 September 21st, 2010, 01:53 PM Noticed the Sr. is on clearance at MF. Looks like this will be a small club seeing as the amp was barely available for a year if that.
tuco74 September 27th, 2010, 01:52 PM Im in.
I got mine as a used MF special. Essentially, the power resistor was loose due to a cold solder , so after 5 minutes the sound just cut out.
After I fixed the issuse, Ive been playing the EVS everyday.
At this price point, its hard to find a comparable amp.
amx1 May 12th, 2012, 09:06 PM Just bought a used Senior head with a matching Epi 1x12 cab. Its my first tube amp and I'm still getting accustomed to it but I like what I hear so far. Too bad it's already discontinued, seems like a pretty good amp. In fact I don't any amps at all on either Epi's or Gibson's web site.
