Wattage for SF Vibro Champ Speaker?castpolymer November 8th, 2009, 07:40 AM Getting ready to order a replacement from Weber and do not know if the speaker should be 20 or 30 watts. Any help from our amp gurus out there? gotzz November 8th, 2009, 08:10 AM I run my vibro champ on 2x10 cab - weber 10a125 (30w) and 10f150p (25w), and both sound great. the watt rating shows how much the speaker can handle, so some say that with power rating of the speaker closer to the power rating of the amp, the speaker will sound better as it's pushing more of his potential. in the other words it works with more percentage. my english isn't the best but I hope you get the point  celeste November 8th, 2009, 08:50 AM From a technical standpoint either will be just fine, the rest is about what you want. Both are pretty over rated for the application, so you are not going to be getting much speaker "break up" added to your tone. Speaker break up comes from a few different things. One is when the cone is not stiff enough to maintian it's shape with the enerital loading placed on it, and another is distortion of the magnet field caused by the current flow in the voice coil. With the power available from your VC, both are going to be minimual. Robster November 8th, 2009, 11:19 AM Its only a 6 watt amp, so anything your find these days will have no problem. You want a 4 ohm speaker. Hoodster November 8th, 2009, 11:40 PM I'd get the 30 for max volume and headroom. But then again, I'm someone who put a high-power Weber Ceramic California 12" in my SF Champ (and it sounds HUGE). http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z289/Hoodsteror/Custom%20SF%20Champ/IMG_0703.jpg electricbody November 8th, 2009, 11:55 PM Either will work. Weber wouldn't sell a 20 watt for Champs if it would be a problem. I put a 20 watt 8A125-O in my Vibro Champ. It's supposed to break up a bit earlier and be a bit darker than some of their other options. It's louder than the stock speaker. I like it, but I have two bright sounding guitars. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/amp-central-station/28168d1246503240-new-speaker-day-weber-2-jpg http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/amp-central-station/28169d1246503252-new-speaker-day-weber-3-jpg Groovey Records November 9th, 2009, 12:16 AM either one I like the 8 125 A my self I did have one set up with a vintage 8" Vox Bulldog that was sweet Collect them all! trade them with your friends! nvilletele November 9th, 2009, 12:52 AM I got the 8F125T for my 70s SFVC . . . I got the 30 watt, on the assumption that it would give some extra headroom. But either would clearly do, and probably I couldnt tell much of a difference even if I did an actual side by side comparison. Nodremark November 9th, 2009, 09:16 AM That is a nice looking VC for sure. Any chance you can share the build process? I'm thinking a nice cherry cab with a 12 might be left in the living room with no static from the XYL. Hoodster November 9th, 2009, 10:55 AM That is a nice looking VC for sure.
