I really need some help here! I had a friend put in a Fender SCN Tele bridge pickup in my Tele and he lost one of the screws for it!!!! On musician's friend they have Fender pickup/switch screws, so I took the screw from my switch (which is the same one from musician's friend) and it doesn't fit! Can anyone tell me where I can find the proper fitting screw?

Hi,

if the SCN are that same as Bill Lawrence's L200 series (which I am assuming because it's his design) the screw #4 or #4 1/2. I think the #4 are when you have the metal mount in the PU and the 4 1/2 when it's not there.

Hope it helps.

I'm afraid you're out of luck...the SCNs take a Special 4/40 thread machine screw with a larger machined shoulder to register in the Bridge plate hole. Look at one of your other ones to see what I mean. Probably would have to go through a Fender Parts Dealer to find one ?

I sent an Email to Fender customer service. I hope they can help!

Probably wouldn't hurt to Smack him around a little, whilst you're waiting to hear from Fender.......

Haha. Great idea! Do you think I could take one of the screws from the pickup to a hardware store and see of they have a similar screw that would fit?

You should be able to find a 4/40 machine screw at an Ace Hardware..perhaps the right length....but the shoulder to fit the bridge plate will be the kicker...I guess it would work in a pinch ?...but not be correct.

...Maybe with a flat washer to keep the head from falling through the hole? It would be a slightly gnarly appearance, but not too bad. It would keep the guitar working until you got the right part.

Fender just sent me an email and they asked for my address and they said they'd just send me the screw through the mail. I was really surprised that is was that easy!
