I was wondering where I can get one of these mic stands that clip onto the bottom of the amp. Having a boom mic on stage is often tough with the limited amount of room we have anyway so I was thinking this would work well on my Hot Rod Deville 4x10.
Any thoughts?
Joe-Bob November 7th, 2009, 02:22 PM That's not a very good picture, but it almost looks homemade.
There's also this kind of amp stand, that has an attachment for a boom or flexible gooseneck made onto it.

Also, there's the Senheiser E609 mic that's flat and square and can simply be hung down in front of the amp.

that's the way to go, IMO ... great miked guitar sound for about a hundred bucks, no stand to trip over and knock askew.
SMurphy28 November 7th, 2009, 06:49 PM I'm liking that mic. I'll give it a try! Thanks.
still_fiddlin November 7th, 2009, 07:33 PM You can buy a small gooseneck and a base that can be screwed on anywhere. I've thought about that, but got an old 6" stand with a heavy metal base off eBay that works perfectly. (I also wonder if there's also the possibility some of the cabinet noise/vibration will travel through the mic holder.)
Dave_O November 7th, 2009, 09:33 PM The guitarist I was working with recently was sitting his Ampeg Reverbrocket on one of these (http://news.harmony-central.com/Product-news/On-Stage-Stands-Introduces-Sturdy-RS7500-Tiltback-Amplifier-Stand)...

On top is a fitting to take a gooseneck.
BTW, I use still fiddlin's method with the little stand if I have to mic up:smile:

the reason i mentioned "knocked askew" in the post touting the 609: we opened for Bill Kirchen a while back, and the sound crew used a 57 on a stand like that ... Bill invited me up to jam a couple, and somehow the stand got kicked in the commotion and my sound pretty much dropped out of the mains. ever since then, i've insisted on using the 609 at every big-stage concert i've played. just one of those wacky things, but you live and learn.

+2 I wrap the cord through the handle, hang it over, done. No stand to pack, set up, trip over, take down, pack.

Donnie55 November 9th, 2009, 08:21 AM While I can think of better sounding mic`s , the 609 is the best suited mic when stage room is an issue .

SMurphy28 November 10th, 2009, 08:53 AM 609 it is! Just placed my order. I think this will solve the issue perfectly.
Thanks for all the advice! This is why I love this forum. Way more helpful than Harmony Central IMO.
