Project idea

Ok, I am finishing some parts casters and strats over the next few weeks and I all ready have an idea I would like to try after that - it would involve my first body build.

I have two key ideas I want to bounce off of everyone.

1) Has anyone tried a Mustang trem/ bridge on a tele? Or even a JM one?

I've seen the new GFS "Surf" guitars and they are cool and strangely similar in idea to what I've been thinking about the past few weeks - I guess my ide is sort-of the reverse, JM trem on a Tele body. I think the Tele shape is by far the best shape of any SB electric.

2) My second idea revolves around the idea of crossing a 50-60ish gretch or 335 with a Tele. I think the thinline does this somewhat, but I have never hear JohnyBGood sound the same on a Tele as it does on a 335. Yet the sounds are somehow similar to me.

So my idea is a tele body that is a bit bigger, thinline of course, and either ash with a maple top or all maple. Then it could have split coil Pafs or Trons. The idea here of course is to build the ultimate *second* guitar for rockabily, Brit Blues, Surf, Southern Rock, etc.

The "first" is just a regular tele of course.

I had a similar concept running through my head recently, I was thinking double cut Tele-Casino hybrid, but I couldn't come up with anything good. As for the tele with jm trem, I haven't seen one yet, so you HAVE to do it!

I was thinking along the same lines as your number 2 idea when I came up with this one.

Thanks spannerman. Sounds like a word to me at least one that's usable around these parts.

Oh yeah - welcome to the group to Angierc. Have fun here.
