Any alternative to Reranch Neck Amber rattlecan?

I just can't afford the shipping right now.

I went to my local Woodcraft shop and got me a couple of cans of Behlen's Star Amber, which is identical to ReRanch Butterscotch Blonde. Was hoping there was an alternative to Neck Amber somewhere.

I havent heard of any, but I just finished my first neck with ReReanch Neck Amber this afternoon and loved it. I would go for it, even with the outrageous shipping

Yes, it really is a great product. Damn....I don't want to spend the money right now, but oh well.

I suggest trying the preeb method of aging your lacquer (I can't remember where in his builds this is). Put clear lacquer in a glass jar and set in the sun for a few days then use one of those Preval sprayers. This example is McFadden's left out for a week. I can't think of a more accurate amber. Read the can and make sure it doesn't say non yellowing. Wow looking at that pic reminds me of "Carwash" and Cheech and Chong :mrgreen:

Fruitwood stain - can add a "touch" of amber to this if you want

Deft Clear over top

as far as a "all in one" spray can alternative, I haven't found one...you might look at the Mohawk colors though - I've heard good things, but haven't tried them myself

I just noticed yesterday that Krylon is offering a spray 'stain' which is actually tinted poly. There is one that looks like BSB and another that looks handy for neck tinting. Of course since it is poly, it is kind of a bad word around here and I have not tried any to vouch for it.

Might be best just to hold out for ReRanch. You can't go wrong with Bill's products.
