buzzing Alparts neck?

Hoping to get a suggestions from you guys.

I just installed an Alparts 7.25 radius, soft V neck with vintage frets on a squire strat that was given to me. The body is one that is solid wood not plywood if that makes any difference.

I set have set it up to the Fender specs from the set up guide on their web site. Problem is have buzz when the the wound strings are fretted. It does not buzz when the strings are played open. It can be heard through the amp, more noticable at lower volumn.

I have wondered if a shim to change the neck angle would make any difference but I can't see where it would. Being a novice I don't know what would constitute the need to change the neck angle.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hiya fshboat, i think it might be that you have slight backbow on it, try to eyeball along the side of the neck to see if it has relief or backbow.

As far as I know allparts necks need to have the frets dressed and crowned! I didnt do it to the tele neck I got and it seems allright but I may have been lucky!
It could be in need of a truss rod adjustment as Zmatko suggested! When some more of the experienced guys chime in they will sort ya out!

I have 2 allparts necks, and another on the way, The first was a boatback, needed nothing doing to it,
the second was the TRO-V (same as yours but for a tele) I found it had a little fret sprout up around the 14th fret,
I've done a little filing and it's better but still not perfect, needs more work.

Cast an eye down the neck and check for backbow, or raised frets, the go from there.

Hard to say without seeing it but most aftermarket necks I've seen have needed some fret dressing/leveling. Could need some more relief... Before shimming, I'd bring the guitar to a good tech and get some advice.

The TMO-VEE (which I think you have) has smaller frets than for example the frets on the TMO-FAT. Those FAT frets will need reduction in height anyway so a level and crown is already locked in.

But the TMO-VEE frets are low enough that, unless you have the neck in wrong or the wrong amount of relief, they shouldn't prevent you from playing to quite this extent.

Good advice from others so far; let me also suggest you go back and make sure the holes through the body attaching the neck are 11/64ths. Your neck may not be fully seated in the pocket if paint, etc. is making the fasteners bind up.

My experience does not match Jan's insofar as mandatory fret attention, but the bulk of my necks have been Warmoth and even better, USACG. His advice is correct for Mighty Mite, etc. I would bet.
