jtpal25 November 6th, 2009, 03:45 PM I have a Holy Grail pedal that I've been using with a Tele and a Mesa Boogie Mark IIB. It always sounded just ok, and now it's starting to crap out on me. I'm not going to buy another one. I'd like to find something better.
What reverb pedals have you guys had good luck with???
tazzboy November 6th, 2009, 04:18 PM Right now I'm leaning on getting either T.Rex Tone Bug Reverb or the Tech 21.
Guitfiddler November 6th, 2009, 04:33 PM Line6 Verbzilla...very authentic lush reverbs, and the cool OctoVerb setting.
SackvilleDan November 6th, 2009, 04:34 PM I really like my RV-3 for thickening up my tone... But it won't do spring reverb.
jazztele November 6th, 2009, 04:36 PM i've never found a pedal i like as much as my cheapo alesis nanoverb.
castpolymer November 6th, 2009, 05:26 PM Line6 Verbzilla...very authentic lush reverbs, and the cool OctoVerb setting.
+1 on the Verbzilla.
cwcowell November 6th, 2009, 05:48 PM +1 on the Verbzilla.
I've considered buying a Verbzilla for the octoverb alone. It's a cool (and, as far as I know, unique) effect. The fact that Verbzilla's other reverb algorithms also sound good is icing on the cake.
jimd November 9th, 2009, 04:58 PM I have the Hardwire Reverb RV-7(?). It is great. I can't say enough good things about it. It seems bomb proof, true bypass and really sweet reverb sounds.
TeleVisor November 9th, 2009, 09:19 PM I was looking for a simple, subtle, spring reverb and found it in the Hermida Reverb. Alf (of Zen Drive fame) is offering it at his website for $100 right now.
thejerk November 10th, 2009, 12:46 AM It isn't high end, but the Marshall Reflector works for pretty much all my needs. The spring reverb is pretty convincing. I think I paid $30-40 for mine on sale. Small, solid, metal case.
My only criticism is that the knobs are chrome with black lines, so can be hard to read in the dark.
jtpal25 November 10th, 2009, 12:57 AM thanks, i'll try some of these.

That's what I use with my non-verb amps. Sounds great and I like the one knob simplicity.
OuttaspaceMan November 11th, 2009, 01:56 AM I'm no reverb expert, but I've been fortunate to own a Boss RV5, Line6 Verbzilla and a Malekko Spring Chicken with dwell knob. I loved them all for what they did but in the end I only kept the Verbzilla for it's amazing reverb sound scapes (plus the octo and trails preset) and the Spring Chicken for the simplicity of a Spring Reverb. So far, to my ears it's a really good emulation of a Spring Reverb. =)
Donnie55 November 11th, 2009, 08:17 AM +1 on the Nano Verb , works for me.

Tremolo7 November 11th, 2009, 11:19 AM I'v never needed a reverb pedal before, but I think I could use a Boss RV-3, because of the reverb + delay option. Are there other pedals at the same price range that do same kinds of stuff?
nickrom November 11th, 2009, 11:28 AM +1 on the verbzilla - excellent product!
lousy13 November 11th, 2009, 04:11 PM I just got the Hermida Reverb pedal and it has a great, subtle spring reverb sound. I sold my Holy Grail.
pinkspider November 11th, 2009, 09:06 PM I'v never needed a reverb pedal before, but I think I could use a Boss RV-3, because of the reverb + delay option. Are there other pedals at the same price range that do same kinds of stuff?
The reverb + delay option on the RV-3 doesn't do much, you will be better off with a separate reverb and delay pedal but I love the RV-3 in long hall mode for ambient stuff.
jtpal25 November 12th, 2009, 02:03 PM how much did you guys pay for your verbzilla? also, I am somewhat reluctant to buy anything from Line 6. Any amps that they make have always sounded crappy to me. Are their pedals better than the amps?

Charlie Bernstein November 12th, 2009, 06:46 PM I was looking for a simple, subtle, spring reverb and found it in the Hermida Reverb. Alf (of Zen Drive fame) is offering it at his website for $100 right now.
Is it a spring reverb? From the website, it doesn't look like one. The clips sound good, though.
Charlie Bernstein November 12th, 2009, 07:07 PM Encouraging thread. After trying a Holy Grail, I always assumed that all non-spring reverbs sound horrible and never went further. But some of these sound great, at least on the web clips. The Hermida and Mr. Springy came across best to my ears. I emailed Hermida to get a little more info - like how far up it's turned to get those sweet, lush, bluesy tones! (If it's doing it below 1 o'clock, I'm a goner....)
giginthesky November 12th, 2009, 07:08 PM how do you feel about rack effects? i use a boss se-50 for a lot of reverb. it's an older unit but usually can be found on the cheap on fleabay. it's a multi effect unit that leans heavily on the reverb side.
Tremolo7 November 13th, 2009, 03:17 AM The reverb + delay option on the RV-3 doesn't do much, you will be better off with a separate reverb and delay pedal but I love the RV-3 in long hall mode for ambient stuff.
Thanks for your comment! In that case I may have to look for something else.
Mookray November 13th, 2009, 03:13 PM I really Love the Hermida Reverb pedal, It has the Soul and tone of a Good reverb.
Great products, I also had a verbzilla from Monster Mike Welch's recommendation and they are very good also.

chezdeluxe November 13th, 2009, 04:45 PM Another fan of Lee Jackson's Mr Springy. I use it with my 63 Brown Deluxe and it sounds very similar to the reverb in my DRRI.
backalleyblues November 13th, 2009, 05:26 PM Another RV-3 user here, I use mine on the plate setting-not quite a tank 'verb, but a good, usable sound all the same. I'd get a separate delay pedal, though if I were you-easier to control.

Stevie 202 November 13th, 2009, 05:27 PM I just got one of those BYOC kit reverb pedals and it's pretty darn good. It's a fair decent imitation of a spring reverb. (jes' MHO, yer MMV..etc...)
Controls = tone, dwell and reverb.
dead simple and cheap too.
got 4 of those BYOCs in my board now.

SackvilleDan November 14th, 2009, 11:18 AM Thanks for your comment! In that case I may have to look for something else.
I've already posted about the RV-3 here, but try it if you can!
I really like the reverb + delay settings. Basically the reverb is set at a mild rate and unchangeable, and you use the knobs to adjust the delay. The reverb settings on their own are quite tweakable.
The delay is as user friendly as anything else without tap tempo. I really like it, but as always, YMMV!

Yeah if you got the money to buy one then Fulltone Tube Tape Delay would be good choice.
DavidLopezJr November 18th, 2009, 07:41 PM I have the Hardwire Reverb RV-7(?). It is great. I can't say enough good things about it. It seems bomb proof, true bypass and really sweet reverb sounds.Authentic lexicon effects.
