I would like to change the pups in my CV'50's tele. I want to get the most Bluesy twang as possible. Thanks for any recommendations.

You really do not need to. The PU's are very good - - the chinese matched them very well. I had a Lindy Fralin Blues special and a Florance Voodoo in my CV bridge and went back to stock. Not that the 2 botique pickups did not sound good, but because the stock PU's are matched well. If you change out PU's on your CV I would buy a matching set from your choice of manufacturer's...but I am OK with what the CV came with. That bridge PU is quite sizzly.

The stock pickups are VERY good for being a Squier - but if you were looking to upgrade I think I'd try out the Fender Nocaster set. That's up your alley for what you've described.

I've heard the Tonerider Hot Classics are VERY close to these pickups.

Those Fender Nocasters are a bit too pricey !

Those Fender Nocasters are a bit too pricey !

You can grab a set on ebay for about $100 - not much more than what you'd pay with Guitarfetish or Tonerider.

You can get a new set at Amazon for $118.98

Fender '51 Nocaster Telecaster Custom Shop Pickups

Take that price to GC or MF and beat it down even more.

I didn't like the Nocasters. CV teles come with Tonerider Hot Classics...you're not going to find anything much better than what's already in the guitar.

CV's dont come with tonerider pickups they are stock fender pickups.

The CV's have 6.9k neck and 8.5k bridge and dont look the same as the toneriders I just saw at the tonerider site here are the tonerider classic specs.

Hot Classics Set - TRT2

Power Up Your Telecaster!

A higher wind on Alnico III magnets makes our Hot Classics a must for the rock and blues player who want more edge from their telecasters. Hot Classics have a stronger midrange, thicker bass response and a raunchy upper register. The Alnico III magnets offer great note separation, even for chord work using boost and overdrive pedals. Nickel and Gold covers are available at the same great price!

•Tone Guide: Loud, spanky, complex with a clear bass and strong mids.
•Magnets: Alnico III
•DC Resistance: 7.2k (neck), 9.1k (bridge)
•RWRP for hum-cancelling in notch positions

I kept the vintage-y sounding bridge pup in my CV, and repaced the neck pup with a GFS Fatbody Alnico.
Very b@llsy type of strat-esque sound - great! - if thats what you may want of course.
Middle position is more stratty 'out of phase' sound now also, but still unmistakably Tele

That Pup was not expensive at all - great bang for buck.

But personally, i'm hanging on to that stock neck pup!

I'd guess a lot of folks might recommend Tonerriders.
I've never tried them, but they are v. highly thought of and from what i understand, they would seem likely to suit a CV I'd bet.
(FWIW) theres a lot of good Youtube clips of Toneriders.

I compared a set of Toneriders to the stock CV pickups and they had the same mags and are wound to the same spec with the same wire. The flatwork looked the same, similar labels. The only difference was cloth wire on the Toneriders. All this means is that Fender and Tonerider are both using the best supplier in China and the best specs for the pickups. It's a win-win.

How much are you willing to spend? Fender OV's are a good choice. You can always grab a set on ebay. Another good combo for the sound you are looking for is an SD Broadcaster matched with a Twang King neck. Then again there's really nothing wrong with the stock pups either!
