TeleBrew November 3rd, 2009, 07:44 PM I have a two part question. Okay here goes:
Part the First:
What would you all consider a long effects chain? I have nine pedals right now, and I use George L cables. To my knowledge, the only pedal in the chain that isn't true bypass is my Fender Blender (at least I don't think it's true bypass).
Part the Second:
Is anyone using a line booster for a long effects chain?
MXR Micro Amp, for instance? Can the BBE Sonic Stomp be used in such a manner? Other brands/models?
TreRocker November 3rd, 2009, 11:56 PM First Part Answer:
I actually recently decided to add every pedal board I've ever owned since I've been playing to one chain, and have over thirty, so don't sweat it. You're on the right track.
Second Part:
Yes, I use a clean boost as the first pedal in my loop chain, and have two pre-amp. One right after the wahs and filters, and the other at the very end to act as a buffer.
As for the sonic stomp, I think the maximixer is great for a dj, or something, but as for a guitar pedal, i'm not sure. I can't agrue that they don't provide a lot of pressence, but they seem to go against what my other pedals seem to be doing. I don't really like them, but that's just opinion. Others swear by them, but I would definately play with it before you buy it.
What pedals are you using and in which order? That could determine where you would put a line boost.

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I live in Richmond, indeed. Shockoe Bottom is right next to the Slip. Basically, once you get to the bottom of the hill on cary or main where the cobblestones, bars, etc. are, you're in the bottom. Same type of place. Cool you've been here.

It's been a few years, but yeah, it sounds like I've been to the Bottom. I went to school at Vanderbilt University and would often take different routes on my way back home to New York State. One year I went via Richmond and visited the Poe House, Shockoe Slip & Bottom, the White House of the Confederacy, etc. Tons of stuff to do for a history buff such as myself.
