:?:

I have an Eminence, 200 watt, 15" speaker with a few miles on it (about 7 years old, used regularly, no visible wear), heavy magnet and deep cone and a like new, no-name 15", 250watt speaker out of an Acoustic B115 cabinet, that is lighter in weight and shallower in the cone.

Which would you choose to put into a bottom ported cabinet that will be receiving 250 watts from a solid state bass head?

Thanks in advance !

neither - not without knowing the parameters for each and then spending a little time modeling with WINisd (Alpha) - odd that the Alpha release is the one to pick over the (Beta) but it is ... seeing as that information will not be forth coming from Acoustic at least...

best bet is just load a driver, go slow and listen to it, repeat and take the one that sounds the best. hte operative is GO SLOW - volume & bass control wise lest speaker destruction make your choice for you...

DIY Building a 'to spec' bass cab for a current driver is not exactly rocket science. I'd really rather source a driver and build the box rather than do the crap shoot thing ...

I'd try 'em both, too, picking the best one by ear...

What Tim said. The cabinet is going to be a big part of how it sounds as well as which speaker "likes" the cabinet better.
