First build, Neck and Bridge Options

So I just finished modifying a sweet Yamaha strat-style and have decided I'm close enough to an expert now that I want to build a tele body from scratch. Now to my the first 2 of probably many questions:

1) I plan on buying a Guitarfetish neck

http://store.guitarfetish.com/tenerosafifr.html

I have fretting levelling and crowning tools at my disposal, and may even move into fretboard levelling and refretting. I know these aren't great necks, but with some fretwork and nut work can they be good playable necks?

2) For my bridge I plan on getting some thing like this

http://store.guitarfetish.com/topmohabrfit.html

Will a string through (meaning to me, a body with strings through it) give me better sustain and other qualities than this bridge?

Thanks for the help

I bought one of their bargain maple necks. It suited my build as it was my first, and I wanted something I could get to playable condition in a hurry and not spend a lot on. If the rest of your build consists of cheap hardware and pickups, then you'll probably be happy with the neck (replace the nut right off though). If on the other hand, you want your build to be a gem that you're really proud of, I'd suggest buying a better neck.

If you look here http://store.guitarfetish.com/xvsoashdasro.html you can see that the neck you're considering came from a $180 Tele, and when you look at the neck, it shows. The only real issue I had was that the corners around the front of the heel where it butts against the body weren't rounded enough for the neck to slide all the way in. Few minutes at the belt sander took care of that.

Can't help you on the bridge, I went with guitar fetishes chrome vintage style I believe, worked OK and matches the Downs plans I used to route the body.

Hope this helps.
