As some of ya'll know, a Squier Tele Special and a Fender Tele Special are NOT the same thing. On the Squier, the bridge pickup is the Fat one.

All I know about is the Indonesian version from around 2002 to 2006. Anyone got one, and if so, what are their manufacture dates?

Here's a freshly modded one:

BTW they're supposed to have a short 6 saddle bridge and a rosewood board. Sorry about that!

Am I really the only guy who currently has one of these?

I have one with a serial number starting with IC05. The 2004 Fender Frontline says it is a new model, and it is listed in the 2006 Frontline as well. 2006 was apparently the last year. I remember they were dropped from the online catalog by 2007 and MF was blowing their stock out and indicating it was a discontinued item during 2007. I got mine as a father's day present in 2007 through one of those MF blowouts for around $120 or $130.

So my guess is, they were made from 2004 through 2006.

The product descriptions indicated they were available in Satin Pewter Metallic (543), Black Metallic (565) and Walnut Satin (592); and that they had an alder body. Mine is Walnut Satin. I believe mine is alder, it seems harder and the grain look different than agathis. Mine appears to be a two piece body.

I didn't like the stock pickup configuration, so I did some carving and filling of the bridge pickup rout to accomodate a Tele pickup in the standard position. The bridge I have on mine currently is a Joe Barden American Standard Tele hybrid plate with RS Guitarworks steel saddles, and the pickups are the Seymour Duncan Antiquity '55 set.

Here's what mine looked like stock:

I don't have a full-body picture of it now, but here's a closeup of the bridge area showing the filling I had to do. (The bridge in this picture isn't the Joe Barden bridge that's on it now.)

It looks real nice, Did it come with that bridge? And if you put it on yourself, was it hard?
