Two teles - which pups into which tele? Or not?

I have an American Deluxe Ash and a Squier Classic Vibe Tele.

I have a new set of nocaster pickups and a set of OV pickups.

I was thinking about putting the Nocasters into the Deluxe Ash, and the OVs into the CV. But before I do that, I wanted to get others' thoughts/opinions.

The SCN pups in the Deluxe are OK, but boring. The stock pups in the CV are OK but a little thin and lacking soul. I am looking for a vintage Tele sound in each. Hence the above plan.

But I am open to other ideas/suggestions . . .

Keep the Deluxe Ash American alone and put Nocasters in the Classic vibe.

Remember by opinion is worth what you paid for it.

I'm with you when you say SCN are 'boring'.

Maybe I'll catch some flak for saying that, but they're just not...it, for me.

I'm working on a crazy p/up setup right now, so I would encourage you to explore past the stock for your sound.

However, all our input aside, only you know what you're looking for in terms of your sound. Hope you find it...(and don't chase tone yr whole life!)

Both the Nocasters and the OV's are defined by Fender as their best efforts at recreating vintage pickups. So, what you propose doing will achieve your objective.

If it was my project, I would do the CV first. That is also supposed to be a "vintage Tele", or at least vintage style. You might decide that the pickups you installed are not all that different from the stock pickups.

FWIW, I don't have experience with the Nocaster pickups or either of your guitars. I've just learned the hard way to verify when I can that the mods I make are getting the results I want.

I would put the No-Casters in the MIA Deluxe and sell the Classic Vibe.

There will always be another guitar for the Original Vintages.

The No-Casters (RWRP) in series or parallel will cancel 60 cycle noise, the OVs will not.

What is the reason for selling the CV? Are you just not a fan of that model, or are you perhaps implying I just have no need for it, what with having the Deluxe (with Nocaster pups) ?

Re other guitars for the OVs, yes indeed, you are correct, and I do have other guitars I could drop them in. I was thinking about putting them into a 2001 American Series Ash 8402, but after playing it some more lately I decided the stock pups actually sound damn good - with major twang-appeal. But maybe into the nashville tele that I finally decided to keep and not sell after seeing so many folks aruing not to sell my first tele . . . .

I'd use Nocasters in the CV and Keystones in the MIA
