I play modern Country and Blues.

A Stelly sounds interesting.
I like the stock Fender neck PU in my AM Std, but I recently put a Stingray in an Esquire build and was amazed at the difference between the Mare masterpiece and the standard Fender PU.

I am intrigued that Mr. Mare must also make a neck pickup just as impressive, so I ask all of you fellow tone freaks.
What would you recommend?

A Stelly is perfect for bluesy tones. It's like a dark sweet Strat tone but with all the clarity of open poles.

Big Box Archtop...It's like a Stelly on steroids! Plus it's tapped so you can run it at a normal (low) output or switch it into super-fat mode.

I play and love Don's three tap Stingray, two tap Broadcaster, Big Box Archtop and double-tapped Strat pups!

Donocaster 6.1 brass cover. Don's fave and so far mine. That big box does sound intriguing, but Don's brass cover has a uniqueness and complexity I have rarely heard in any pickup. At very high volumes it almost has a "ghostly" quality, (whatever that means!) or a three dimensionality. Anything by Don is bound to be very good imo.

I use the description Other Worldly to describe some of the tones Don has given me.

I have a few of his but for me the True Nancy's 2234 are swell. It uses the same Neck pick up as The Don O Caster

Don't ask us talk to Don.
