Opinions on EMG-T pickups?

I've heard some good things about these recently. What do you guys think?

I really like it but I added the EMG-SPC to fatten it up when I don't want full-on twang.

Everyone seems to find the neck even better than the bridge but as mine is an EMG 81, I don't know

I'm only asking because at one of the many concerts I attended this summer, the lead guitarist had a brand-new Am.Standard with EMGs playing through a vintage Bassman with nothing but a volume pedal, and he had some damn beautiful tone. Since it's one of my favourite bands and I play a lot of their style of music, I'm trying to see what I can do to get something similar.

Anyone else with EMGs in a Tele?

I love them. The neck pickup is described by EMG as the singe best pickup they make. I have to agree.. and it's my favorite guitar pickup of all of my guitar's pickups, strats and guilds included. It's an incredible, full, warm, round sounding tone maker. The bridge is great too. I have never been disappointed in purchasing these pickups. They are very highly underrated in my humble opinion. Being that they are also noisless is a huge plus. :razz:

The best of the noiseless, but I like the tone of good single coils better.

I agree that this is the only stock size pickup for Tele neck slot I like. They have to be used together. EMGs can not reasonably be used with passive pickups on the same circuit, although one idea I have had for years (and have never done) would be to use one or more EMGs and one or more conventional pickups on completely separate circuits to separate isolated jacks. Would be great for stereo.

I like EMGs a lot. I don't like the new solderless connectors at all. They are going to be trouble IMO. But, I have found most people really don't like EMGs in the long run because the treble is very fatiguing after a while if you do not modify your signal chain to roll off some of the very top end that conventional pickups lose through the cable and front end of the amp. Most people won't do that. If you do that and if you don't mind the battery dependency EMGs are really the answer to a lot of problems.

That, I think was one of the problems IMO with the Lo-Z Les Paul's that were never popular. That, and of course the weight.

I hope EMG released an X series version of their tele offerings. They redesigned the preamp across several models of their pickups for less coloration and compression, giving a more natural, "passive" feel. Really sounds much better to my ears with both the guitar and bass revisions.

lol. I think both of those guys make innovative stuff though. I love my EMGs.
