Hi, I wondered if you guys/girls could help with a problem I have with my Tele.
If I turn the volume control up nothing happens until it is about 2/3 rd way through its range then the volume cuts in suddenly - I have some volume control from 2/3 to full volume - nothing below 2/3 rotaion of the volume knob.

Are there any simple checks I could make (I heard WD40 might help?) or does it need a new pot - thanks in advance

I would replace both pots and the switch and Jack with better quality parts.

CTS is a good brand

The Stummer uses poorly made chinese parts

Spray the pots out with contact cleaner and spin the heck out of them.

Yeah, WD40 is NO GOOD for pots. Try contact cleaner, and if that doesn't work swap out the pots.

and make sure there are no short circuits in there - for example make sure the jack isn't coming into contact with anything ...
