Question for JWELLS393

Hi Jack.

I've just spotted a thread that you posted some time ago relating to grinding down the projecting screw hole arm on a Bigsby B5 and drilling a hole beneath the spring to mimic the closer mounting of the F-Style Bigsby.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself to increase the break angle.

You did a great job - very neat - I'm assuming you used a Dremel tool or similar.

In any case did you get to install that Bigsby in the end? and were there any stability issues if you did so? I'm wondering if the screw hole arm projection was originally manufactured like that for a reason?

Thanks for any replies.

Sorry Russ, can't tell you how that modified Bigsby performs. I had planned to put it on a guitar I was building but forgot and drilled string through holes.

This may be the picture you saw.

As I recall, I sawed off the extension with a hacksaw then used files to do the final shaping. I followed that with compound and a buffing wheel mounted on a bench grinder.

When I get back to building, I'll mount it on a guitar.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

I'm going to give it a go myself and see what happens.
