I found this auction on eBay (no affiliation):

eBay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RARE-VINTAGE-1972-FENDER-STRAT-TELE-GUITAR-PROMO-NECKS_W0QQitemZ330363786660QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuit ar_Accessories?hash=item4ceb3755a4#ht_2710wt_1165)

I thought I would grab the pictures and post them here as a good reference for anyone building a neck. (I have saved these to my Flickr account so they will remain after the auction is finished).

Don't you think thats a bit pricey...

This is from the auction listing...

Please note: these are not functioning necks that can be attached to a guitar.

Really?

Yikes!

...At least I can take solace in the fact that they were never guitars, and were only dealer promo items (likely from a blem) so it's not guitar-icide.

I feel like I just walked in on my parents wrapping presents on Christmas Eve...
