How do you get that tone control wah-wah sound?

I have seen players like Roy Buchanan roll their tone controls and get a wah-wah type sound. I can't get a stock tone control to do this. What's the secret? Is it a combination of a specific pot and cap value?

I want to know!

Thanks!

All you need is a 1meg tone-pot.

And....a Pinky finger about 7" long if you haven't Flipped your Control Plate.

A single tone control can produce a mild half-cocked wah sound because it has just one roll-off. I've recently found that surreptitious use of two tone controls, a 22 and a 47 can iron it out, rather like having a treble and a middle control. This is almost the opposite of what you want but may go some way to explaining it and finding a solution, suggest A100k (log type B = 10% at halfway) +47nF control

I'll try the 1meg pot. I just happen to have one that is itching to be used. I do have a flipped control plate tele I will try as well.

Speaking of long fingers, I had the honor and pleasure of playing with Tal Farlow once. His index finger was as long as my index finger and palm combined!
