tele neck pickup

I recently converted my amstd to a vintage. I ordered neck pickup screws and springs from Glendale. My question is....

On adjusting the height, is it the same method as with the neck pickup mounted to pickguard? Turning the screws clockwise raises the pickup and counterclockwise lowers it? My pickguard is resting on the pickup screws and the pickup is pretty high.
