Bushing fit?

How tight should tuner bushings fit to avoid wood stress/cracking but at the same time ensure the screws and bushings stay in place? Should I be using a press? Should I instead only rely on my hands to tap/squeeze the bushing in?

Its hard to tell someone how tight they should be. You should be able to tap or press them in fairly easily. You don't want to be hammering them in like you're building a deck.

If I can't press them in easily I will ream the top of the hole a bit. Better to be on the loose side than the tight side.
