Hi giant Tele forum.
I used to hate Teles with a fiery fiery passion (mostly an image problem of mine), but now I'm a convert and I've been planning and building one for a couple of months!

It's a long a complicated story but I've been peeking at the forums here for months, and I can't wait to hear my little hot rod sing.

Everyone seems so sound here, looking forward to making this my default absent-minded website when it's a slow day at work. Facebook gets so dull after a while...

Anyway; I guess there's kind of obligatory gear list on these forums so I'lltry and be brief... but I've had real bad GAS for about 3-4 years now. Here goes; just the guitars for now.

1) Lyssia: the first decent guitar I owned, bought it to go to University; '03 Epi Gothic Les Paul studio, Seymour humbuckers (tapped), Graphtech saddles, custom intonated nut job, locking tuners. Beats most Gibs that I've played.

2) Leila: Tanglewood TW45 electro-acousticy thingy. Has never let me down, really great guitar for not much money.

3) Lil' Joe: A project of mine from 2006ish. Warmoth upside-down Strat thing. Custom shop Seymour HSH pups, S1 switching, A horrific testimony to DIY heavy relicing, but incredibly versatile and if I say so myself, a really cool looking guitar!

4) Lydia: The project from last summer, chambered Gib Les Paul DC, new fretboard, re-finished, Kluson/tonepros hardware, PRS bridge pup. I feel like a sham playing this thing it's just so awesome.

5) Little Johann: My Dad gave me his old guitar when I graduated because he can't play anymore... It just happens to be a pre-'57 premium line Hofner Archtop. Sick.

And I'm currently making 2 more: another stupid custom Gib DC and a TELE!
I'll shut up now. Sorry I get quite excited.
Nice to be here!

I too used to dislike Teles, I thought they were hideous, and many artists associated with them bored me. Then I played a few good ones, realized that the other half of Tele players were/are some of my all time faves, and now I almost exclusively play them. It seems unfathomable that I went so long (16 years) before discovering Tele love!! Welcome!

Hi and welcome, am only new here myself.

As a young bloke in the mid 60's i was turned to strats by my idol of the time Rory Gallagher and then i got into Roy Buchanan, it changed me to a tele lover as well.

Where do you get the neck plates done? its very nice work

cheers

Yup that's kinda how it worked for me, a lot of posey indie bands in the UK for the last few years all turned up at gigs/on tv with stock Teles and Orange stacks, cack-handedly strumming away, somehow producing the same tired, thin, crappy sound.

Then I heard a few artists using them to make really sweeeet sounds in several different genres and it almost instantly changed my opinion... Andy Summers, Robben Ford, Springsteen. My initial opinion was a bit dumb and ignorant when I think about it!

Thanks for the welcomes!

I've never taken the time to listen to Big Rory too closely, it's on my 'to-listen' list though. That Strat's fairly iconic, small wonder it made you Strat lover!

there's guy on eBay does custom etched neck-plates, his username is; mrwmlarson
He'll etch pretty much anything onto them from when I spoke to him!
