The pitch/tune of the guitar will go down almost a full step with only moderate pressure on the neck....same thing if I pull back, it goes right up and frets out.
Anybody have experience with one of these guitar kits? I guess my question is, would buying a better aftermarket neck and throwing it on there make the guitar more stable (is the Saga neck too flexible) or is the problem more likely a structural flaw or weakness in the body/neck pocket itself? :?:

Heres my Saga kit tele. I never had a problem with the neck. I did have a hard time getting it setup right, ended up taking it to qualified guitar tech. He got it playing really good. Did ya check the truss rod ? Im just taking a shot in the dark , like I said I ended up taking mine to a pro.

Yes, I've had the same issue with the SAGA kits.
The problem is that the pre-drilled holes in the neck are not deep enough. What you need to do is carefully drill them deeper. Make sure not to drill out through the fret board. Once the holes are deep enough you should be able to get sufficient clamping pressure to hold the neck nice and tight.

I used 42 mm screws, I think they were longer than the kit ones, I clamped the neck in position checking it lined up ok then redrilled the holes and screwed it up, erm, screwed it together I mean! Had no problems with set up at all.

You might try steel inserts in the neck. They really can tighten up a neck joint.
