Has anyone ever tried putting water and solvent based dyes together for a color swirl

I was just wondering if someone has tried putting water and solvent based dyes together in a vat to make a psychadelic swirl guitar. It seems that if you put them in something they wouldn't blend because of the oil/water defference, and then you could dip the body in it.

Wow, that's pretty cool. When I was a kid I went to Boron where borax was invented, but that sure wasn't in the museum!
