Pedal Chain opinions

Currently I have this order - TS 808(keeley modded - love it!) > Keeley compressor > Boss DD-5 > Boss tuner > EB Volume Pedal through a maz 18.

Right or wrong??? Where should they be... OK GO!

I think many people would suggest putting the compressor first in the chain. That said, it is personal preference and if you don't like it that way, then don't do it. But if you haven't tried that, I would. Other than that, I think it looks good.

MBP is right, try the OD & Comp both ways & keep it the way you like best. I'd run the volume pedal just ahead of the DD-5, so that when you cut the volume down, the delayed repeats still decay naturally. I'd also run the tuner off of the volume pedal's tuner out, if it has one.

I put the comp last in the chain. If you put the comp first then run thru everything else arent you kind of defeating the purpose of having the comp. I mean I use a compressor to level things out and add a little gain. Take all the signal say OD, Delay and Chorus and then compress that signal going to the amp. But thats just the way I do it works for me.

Because of impedance and cable capacitance, this will also do a lot to preserve your tone from pedalboard The DD-5 has a buffer to help push the signal through the cable to your amp.

I'd also run the tuner off of the volume pedal's tuner out, if it has one.

Running the tuner off the tuner out on your volume pedal affects your tone a lot more than running it straight through the tuner:

But that's just me.

Ok, thanks for the input. I think I'll try the compressor in front to see if it changes things up. I mainly use it for a boost and smooth things out during a solo.

Yeah, I've seen that article before. I've run both my pedalboards with EB volume pedals using the tuner out, with Strobostomp tuners, and have never had that problem. I've also run my tuners with an a/b box, and just guitar -> tuner -> amp, and there's been no appreciable difference in the tone. As always, YMMV.

Theoretically, it would depend on the quality of your cables and the buffers / input impedance of your pedals.

Tuner > Comp > Loop (Wah) > OD > Chorus > Delay ...works best for me.
