Hi,

Rob from Wollongong, Australia.

Been playing guitar for 5 years now. Only have an acoustic 1978 Ibanez and a terrible Martinez acoustic that I got for free when I bought a digital piano for my wife.

Play in my local church, that's all.

Would like to get an electric one day (cant afford one atm), but for now I'll just research a bit and dream of owning anything electric actually.

Keen to learn heaps of stuff about the electric guitar world.

cheers,
Rob

heya, welcome! Another Aussie! We're slowly building up our ranks here...

You know there are pretty cheap electrics out there to be had. It all depends on how much you're willing to spend. You could go out and buy a $3000 Fender and a massive $5000 amp, but if you're just playing at home why bother?
I reckon you could pick up a Squier Tele and a little practice amp for under $500. Heck, I have about 5 little amps at my place- some of 'em sound pretty good too- and I cant even remember where I got them from! check out the classifieds too, I see cheap electrics ($100-200) all the time (in canberra that is). Good place to start if youre really keen to get electric.

Hey, my wife/girlfriend/mother of my baby bought me a digital piano for my birthday! I couldnt believe it, and to be honest I feel a little guilty due to the expense, but it made her happy, so I'm happy. What type is yours?

btw, a '78 ibanez sounds pretty cool

G'day Rob.
Lived in the Gong from 95 til 2000 with a year in Cairns in between.
The Dr says if I keep taking the pills, eventually I'll recover:mrgreen:

Good to have you aboard. This is the most friendly music forum I've found.
So,...you from the posh Austinmer end, or the bogan Shellharbour end:grin:

been away, late reply, thanks for the welcome everyone.

Live in Mt Ousley, so fletch, i'm not too far away.

My grandad used to make tube amps in Bellambi (Farrington). I recently found one, had it fixed and have since gained an interest in going electric. atm I just plug a old acoustic into it, sounds nice but I want to explore further.

barkley: my digital piano is a KAWAI ES-5, and I also have a Roland RD-? cant remember the model - big, heavy 80's/90's??? concert stage digital piano that some one gave to me.
