Just recieved my Musikraft ash tele body, looks great...pics soon.

Question: My first step is sealing it with a clear coat and then multiple coats of grain filler? Not sure if I'm going to stain yet, but want to know at what point in the process i should if i choose to do so. Plan on testing different methods on scrap oak before i go for it...just wanted to see if im in the right direction. No spraying involved for the record.
