I picked up a MXR Distortion+ off ebay for $55 shipped. When it came in I opened it and it turns out it is an original 1977 Block logo. Am I right in thinking it is worth probably more than this? I didn't think it would be a vintage pedal, so now I'm not sure if I should mess with modding it any. It will have to wait until tomorrow before I can hook it up with my amp and really try it out. I know my buddies newer version is pretty brittle sounding, so I found some mods. I hoping now that maybe the older version I got isn't like that!

I've got a 77 distortion plus with script logo back plate in my board right now, great sounding pedal and I just picked it up for $40.00 + shipping. believe it or not i tried 2 bs170 jfets for clipping diodes and it sounds freaking HUGE. You can always re-install the original 1n270's,but as far as being a collectors item MXR made millions of these block logo distortions.
so unless you have a script logo in mint condition I wouldnt consider it an investment, just plug it in and dig the perfect 70's hard rock distortion that comes forth!

I've got a block logo I bought new in around 1979. Love it. Really nasty, in a good way. My only complaint is that you really have to crank the level to get even output with your clean sound. You don't get much of a boost from it at all. Classic sound, though.
