Tubes for an Ampeg Jet

Hey guys,
I'm doing some maintenance to a friend's mid-60's Ampeg Jet (J-12D). I'm just going to replace the filter cap can and install a grounded AC plug (and disconnect the death cap).

I'm told this amp once belonged to the artist who would become known as the great Commander Cody. I guess it was before his Planet Airmen (incl. Mr. Kirchen) got Lost.

I know there are some current-production 7591 power tubes (JJ and EH). Has anyone got any experience with them?

The preamp tubes are 6BK11 which seem to be completely unavailable. I'd like to have 1 or 2 as backup for my friend's amp. I've checked my usual online NOS tubes sources and haven't found any. Does anybody have a stash or source of 6BK11's that they'd be willing to share? PM me if you feel the need for secrecy!!

I did find one source and they were pretty danged expensive. I was wondering if anyone here might be willing to part with one or a couple for "what it's worth" instead of "what I can get for it", but I know that's wishful thinking...

Everyone seems to think 6BK11 are imposible to find, you might look at 6c10 or 6k11 which I believe are pin compatable.

I think I may have a used one.
It's the compactron tube right?
Also try here.
I think it's where I got mine.

Thanks, they seem to have them. I will say their price on 6C10's is about twice other suppliers want, but they have 6BK11's and 6B11 when all my usual industrial suppliers do not.

Thanks kids. I did check with dbmproaudio yesterday and they do have a couple of 6BK11s, but at a price that's going to be too high for my buddy. Yes, they're the compactron type.

So, Celeste, I know the 6C10s are "compatible", but are they about the same tone-wise?

Any comments on the current production 7591a tubes?

Are they the same tone-wise, now that is a huge question that I have no idea of, as I have never worked with them. 7591's seem to be ok, but again no personal experinece and only what I have been told from new designs.
