Butterscotch stain?

I have a pine Tele body on the way (somewhere in postal limbo) and plan on staining it butterscotch and using an antique satin wipe on finish. I've experimented with a few stains and so far found the closest is butternut, but it just isn't deep enough. The clear will darken and deepen it but doesn't look authenitic. Can anybody recommend a stain close to the butterscotch finish?
Thanks. (I did a search and only came up with spray on finishes).

Are you trying to replicate a vintage look?

If so, I wouldn't stain the wood. I did that on my first partscaster back in 1988 when there wasn't the internet and it looked terrible. It looked like stained wood.

I would coat the body with clear lacquer, then use the butterscotch tint spray. It will give it depth and make it look like the lacquer aged.

I dyed an alder body yellow, then oiled then waxed and I think it looks great. If I were to do it again, I would skip the oil (It browned it too much) to get that 50's yellow ish colour.
