I just ordered me a lefty Cobalt C250 tonight. I have a 1991 Fender Malibu acoustic and it just doesn't project enough when I jam acoustically with friends. I'm expected to be the lead guitarist, and it's hard to be that guy when nobody can hear you solo! I played tonight with two other guitars, a banjo and bass and I was drowned out no matter how hard I picked or strummed.
So I went to Carvin's website, having owned an amp and two electrics in the past, and saw that the C250 was on sale for $299! Such a deal.
Any other Cobalt series users out there?

You may not be out of the woods... I love Carvin stuff, and own a bit of their gear, my favorite guitar of all time is my bolt +. But I'veplayed a few of their Cobalts, and while they are extremely well made, and play like a dream, they are not loud. Not trying to bust your bubble, I hope it works out for you, but I didn't find them loud enough for unplugged use in an ensemble situation. Especially with a Banjo, damn those things are loud...

Ha ha! I know what you mean about the volume of a banjo. It's hard to overcome that kind of volume.
My Cobalt arrived today and I had trouble putting it down even after an hour and a half of playing time. It really does play like a dream, and it sounds great. I'll have to see how it measures up in an ensemble situation, but it's definitely louder than my old acoustic, so it's already an improvement. I think it should be at least as loud as my buddy's Martin DX. But my other buddy's banjo is louder than both of us.
Anyway, I'm impressed with the Cobalt overall, and was psyched to only pay $299 for it factory direct, plus $69 for a really nice hardshell case. They're normally $469, which would still be a good deal in my book.
